Improving Inventory Management System and the Warehouse Logistics Capacity for Service Agency of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia

Objectives

Main objective of the effort was improvement of inventory and warehouse logistics capacity of the Service Agency (SA) through the implementation of efficient inventory management system and optimization of warehouse management processes. One of the main achievements of the project was ensuring sustainability of the logistical system through the capacity building and systematization of logistics processes in the organization. The customer of GLA in this project was USAID HICD Plus program.

 

Our service

  • Analyze the current state of the relevant logistics processes including logistics organizational structure, inventory management, warehouse infrastructure and operations, transportation and route management
  • Develop an adequate cross-functional organizational structure for logistics operations
  • Perform ABC analysis of inventory to categorize goods by its value, cost and inventory turn level to optimize storage and improve picking operation
  • Develop Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) for inventory management and warehouse operation
  • Develop site and layout plans of SA’s warehouses in Tbilisi, Samtredia and Akhaltsikhe
  • Define needs for the material handling equipment, tools (racking system, bar code scanners etc.) and transportation equipment
  • Develop functional specifications for the modification of the existing ERP system including the integration of bar-coding system. Support SA in the implementation process
  • Conduct trainings of SA’s staff in the following modules: Inventory management, Warehouse logistics, ERP applications: WMS, Route planning
