GLA and GIZ conduct focus group meeting on development of VET education in transport and logistics

On 4th June, Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) have conducted a joint focus group meeting on the needs and perspectives of development of the VET (vocational education and training) education in the Georgian transport and logistics (TL) sector.

On the meeting, the results of the skills needs assessment in the Georgian TL sector have been discussed. The assessment was conducted by GLA on behalf of GIZ last month. In the focus group the company representatives from transport, logistics retail and distribution sectors have participated. Focus group participants have discussed the labor market needs and required occupations and qualifications development, which is important to eliminate shortage of qualified personnel in TL sector.

During the meeting, GLA has presented its plan which aims to develop the dual VET education advisory board at the association. Main objectives of the advisory board are the systematic identification of skills and competencies gaps in TL and supporting VET institutions in the development of dual VET programs in order to align them with market requirements.
