Georgian Logistics Association will support GIZ in the development of urban transport

Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) has signed agreement with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to support the German international organization in the concept development for one of the most important transport corridors in Tbilisi. The project aims to support sustainable modes of transport and to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) in the corridor.

The project will be implemented within the GIZ’s regional program -Sustainable Urban Mobility in the South Caucasus.

On behalf of GIZ, GLA will conduct a traffic flow study in the corridor which connects V. Gorgasali street with the Heroes Square via Kote Abkhazi street and Rustaveli Avenue. In addition, GLA will evaluate a technical condition of road infrastructure and conduct a survey of parking along the corridor. GLA urban transport experts will also identify the problems related with the traffic control and road safety and together with GIZ will develop the innovative solutions to address the challenges in the transport corridor.

Development of urban and sustainable transport represents one of the main priorities of GLA. Since 2016, GLA is actively working on the development of sustainable transport systems. In 2019, four of GLA experts passed the eight-week training program in transport modelling and simulation at one of the leading universities in Italy. Since 2019, in cooperation with the Danish company Ramboll GLA is involved in the development of Tbilisi Sustainable Urban mobility Plan (SUMP).
