In the scope of the USAID Industry-led Skills Development Program, the Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) started training sessions at the Georgian construction materials manufacturing and trade company- NOVA. The training contains three main areas: Supply chain and inventory management, warehouse logistics and secondary transportation/delivery planning.  In the training, more than 60 employees  of Nova will be participating.

On 28 September, in Bristol (UK) the Chairman of the Georgian Logistics Association Giorgi Doborjginidze met with David Coombes, CEO of “Skills for Logistics”, the British skills organization in transportation and logistics. The main objective of the meeting was to share experiences about vocational education and training (VET) in the British logistics sector and explore opportunities for future cooperation between the two organizations.

Within the USAID Industry-led Skills Development Program, the Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) started the project which will support NOVA Ltd in building its capacity in the supply chain and logistics.

This week the Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) introduced the warehouse and freight forwarding specialists’ occupational and educational standards, which have been elaborated with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The standards have been developed based on the Skills Needs Assessment conducted by GLA last year and the European best practices in transport and logistics vocational education and training (VET).

During the German visit, the Chairman of the Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) George Doborjginidze met with representatives of logistics companies, vocational education institutions, and the chamber of commerce and industry. The visit was conducted with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), which supports the development of dual vocational education and training (VET) in the Georgian transport and logistics sector.

On 14 September BURO HAPPOLD and the Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) introduced the redesign project of Kote Afkhazi street. The project is implemented by the regional program- “Sustainable Urban Mobility in the South Caucasus’ (Mobility4Cities)”. It is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ.

On 31 May with a support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) the Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) organized a focus group meeting to develop occupational standards in the freight forwarding. Representatives of freight forwarding, manufacturing and trade companies as well as the International Freight Forwarders Association and the Georgian Vocational Skills Agency have participated in the meeting.

On May 6^th Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) and Caucasus University have organized the panel discussion on current challenges in global and regional logistics industry and Georgia’s opportunities as a regional logistics hub.

On 15-19 March, a delegation of the Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) and Caucasus University (CU) has visited the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau in Germany. During the visit the meetings with the President of TH Wildau Prof. Dr. Ulrike Tippe and academic personal, which will be actively involved in the implementation of the joint master’s program in Digital Logistics Management in Georgia, have been carried out.

On 23 September the Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) has conducted the online presentation of skills needs assessment results in transport and logistics. The needs assessment was implemented by GLA with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) will participate in the redesign of the Kote Afkhazi street. The project is implemented within the program of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) - Mobility4Cities.

Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) will support a National Agency of State Property in Georgia to improve business processes related to management of movable and non-movable inventory and logistics. The project is financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) HICD program.

On 4th June, Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) have conducted a joint focus group meeting on the needs and perspectives of development of the VET (vocational education and training) education in the Georgian transport and logistics (TL) sector.

On Behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) will start the Skills Needs Assessment in the transport and logistics (TL) sector in Georgia. The needs assessment will be focused on the identification of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) skills gaps in the sector. In the needs assessment, 150 companies from transportation and logistics, manufacturing and trade will be participating.

In cooperation with the Georgian Logistics Association (GLA), the Caucasus University (CU) and Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau (TH Wildau) will start an English-speaking international master’s program in Digital Logistics Management (DLM). The program is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD.

Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) has signed agreement with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to support the German international organization in the concept development for one of the most important transport corridors in Tbilisi. The project aims to support sustainable modes of transport and to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) in the corridor.

Georgian Logistics Association (GLA) has signed agreement with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on the development of dual vocational education and training dVET in the Georgian logistics sector. The main objective of the cooperation between GLA and GIZ is to support the coordination, and the implementation of the logistics dTVET programs in Georgia.

On 15 June, at the Georgian-German TVET Days GLA has introduced  the Logistics Laboratory which has been developed in cooperation with the Georgian Technical University and Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau (TH Wildau).
